RAC, short for Remix Artist Collective, is the indie-electronic project of Portuguese-American producer and musician André Allen Anjos, who started it in January 2007 as a remix outlet before it became his own solo act. That shift plays out across the catalog: "Don't Talk To" in 2013, "EGO" in 2017, and "BOY" in 2020, issued on his own Remix Artist Collective label. The work sits between indie electronic, dance, and rock, and the remixer's instinct for reworking someone else's song never left.
Anjos has run RAC out of Portland and has kept it going since 2007, which is a long run for a project that began as a side pursuit. The remix half of the job paid off in 2017, when he won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording for his version of "Tearing Me Up" by Bob Moses.
RAC has never been strictly a one-person operation, with Chris Angelovski, Andrew Maury, and Karl Kling among the musicians credited to the project. The live show has carried it to Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Firefly Music Festival, which is the kind of touring history that translates to college programming, festival and fair lineups, corporate events, and private engagements.
