Rachel Platten is a pop singer-songwriter working across pop rock and adult contemporary pop. She released Wildfire in 2016, followed by Waves in 2017 and You Belong in 2018, three records in three years. She performs as a solo artist under her own name, Rachel Ashley Platten, and records for Violet Records.
None of it happened quickly. Platten, from Newton, spent nearly a decade carrying her own keyboard to late-night cover gigs around New York City, often starting her set at 1 a.m.
The recognition came later. "Fight Song" brought a 2015 Teen Choice Awards nomination for Choice Music: Summer Song, and in 2016 Platten won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Musical Performance in a Talk Show/Morning Program for her performance on Good Morning America. That same year she was nominated for Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist at the American Music Awards.
