Radical Something is a California group whose sound refuses to sit still, sliding between hip-hop, reggae, pop, and rock across a catalog they have released themselves. They arrived in 2011 with We Are Nothing and built a habit out of summer, returning with The Summer of Rad and turning that title into a recurring seasonal project rather than a one-off record.
They came together by accident. The three members met late one night in a New York City studio, wrote their first song on the spot, and decided to keep going as a band.
That core has stayed intact: Josh Hallbauer on lead vocals, Alex Lagemann handling rap vocals and guitar, and Michael Costanzo holding down bass, guitar, keys, and percussion, a trio built to cover a lot of ground live. They have carried that range to rooms like First Avenue in Minneapolis, which makes them a flexible fit for festival and fair lineups, college events, casinos, and private engagements.
