Randy Rogers Band is a Texas country and red dirt outfit that has been at it since 2000, with enough Americana in the writing to keep the songs from sitting still. The group's run with Universal Music Group Nashville produced Nothing Shines Like Neon in 2016, a record that leaned all the way into the traditional country side of the band's sound. By the time Homecoming arrived in 2022, the title read like a summary of the whole project: a band that built its name in Texas rooms and kept going back to them.
Rogers came up a preacher's son. He grew up in Cleburne, Texas, raised by a Baptist preacher father, and sharpened his songwriting in a San Marcos songwriting circle before there was a band to put those songs in front of. The Randy Rogers Band came together for a specific reason, a regular gig at Cheatham Street Warehouse, and that residency set the pattern for everything after it.
Rogers still fronts the band on lead vocals and guitar, alongside Geoffrey Hill on guitar and Jon Richardson on bass. The live schedule stretches from rooms like Brewster Street Ice House to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, plus a long association with The MusicFest at Steamboat in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
