Real Estate is an indie rock band whose records sit at the meeting point of dream pop and surf rock. Signed to Domino Recording Company, the group reached a wider audience with *Atlas* in 2014, deepened the approach on *In Mind* in 2017, and arrived at *Daniel* in 2024, a run that reads less like reinvention than like a band steadily refining one idea across more than a decade.
The band started as a homecoming. Singer, guitarist and primary songwriter Martin Courtney formed Real Estate in Ridgewood, New Jersey, in the summer of 2008, after returning east from studies in Olympia, Washington. The group has been active since 2009, and Ridgewood remains the point the whole catalog traces back to.
Courtney has kept company with Alex Bleeker, Julian Lynch and Jackson Pollis, with Matthew Mondanile among the earlier lineup, and the band has taken those songs to rooms as different as the Stone Pony Summer Stage, Metro and El Club. That mix of a well-known catalog and a road-tested live show makes Real Estate a strong fit for college programming, festival and fair lineups, corporate events, and private engagements.
