Red Shahan is a Texas singer-songwriter working in Red Dirt country and Americana, with folk and rock pulling at the edges of it. He introduced himself with Men & Coyotes on 4 September 2015, followed it with Culberson County in 2018, and has kept a record cycle going on his own terms since, up through Hard Land, released 7 August 2026 on Make Wake Records and Lemon Pepper Records.
He came to songwriting by way of the arena. Shahan was born in Bluff Dale, rodeoed at Western Texas College, and got his start singing country songs in Lubbock, playing the club circuit there regularly from the mid-2000s onward. Those Lubbock nights built the act well before the first album did.
Shahan performs solo under his own name, and the writing has carried past his own shows: "Revolution" was featured in the third season of Yellowstone. On the road he has worked rooms as different as Gruene Hall, Knuckleheads, and House of Blues, which makes him a practical booking for festival and fair lineups, college events, casinos, corporate dates, and private shows.
