Rochelle Jordan is an R&B singer and songwriter whose work runs R&B and hip hop through UK garage, house, and drum and bass. She arrived with 1021 in 2014, then spent the next stretch pushing further into dance-floor territory with PLAY WITH THE CHANGES, released on Young Art in 2021. Through the Wall followed on Empire in 2025, the clearest statement yet of a catalog that treats R&B and electronic music as one continuous idea rather than two rooms.
The sound came from the house she grew up in. Born in London to British-Jamaican parents and relocated to the eastside of Toronto in the early 1990s, Jordan learned northern soul, reggae, and dancehall from a drummer father, then picked up house, drum'n'bass, and garage from her brother's record collection. Those two inheritances still sit side by side in everything she releases.
Her single "Follow Me" reached number one on the Billboard Next Big Sound chart in 2014, and she co-wrote and performed on "Telegraph Ave." from Childish Gambino's Grammy-nominated Because the Internet. On stage she has played rooms as different as First Avenue in Minneapolis, the Fine Line Music Cafe, and the Sydney Opera House, which is a fair measure of how far the material travels. That range makes her a strong fit for college programming, festival and club lineups, corporate events, and private engagements.
