Róisín Murphy is an Irish singer and songwriter whose catalog sits where electronic music, dance-pop and art pop meet. Her solo run stretches from Take Her Up to Monto in 2016 through Róisín Machine in 2020 and Hit Parade in 2023, a stretch of albums that moved her steadily closer to the dance floor without giving up the pop songwriting she is known for. She has been at this since the 1990s. Born in Arklow, County Wicklow, on 5 July 1973, Murphy first drew attention as one half of the pop duo Moloko alongside Mark Brydon, and the solo work that followed carried that partnership's appetite for rhythm into her own name.
