ROLE MODEL is the solo project of singer-songwriter Tucker Harrington Pillsbury, a pop writer who came out of bedroom pop and has been widening the frame ever since. The EP Arizona in the Summer, released in 2017, was the small first version of the idea. Rx followed in 2022, and by the time Kansas Anymore arrived in 2024 the indie pop had picked up a clear streak of Americana.
He built the audience before the industry did. Pillsbury is from Cape Elizabeth, and he put out Arizona in the Summer himself, with no label behind it. The online following it gained is what got him signed to Interscope Records in 2018, and he has recorded under UMG since.
The catalog has kept growing past two dozen releases, and the touring has scaled with it, through rooms like Le Trianon, Columbiahalle and Tilburg 013. It makes ROLE MODEL a straightforward fit for college programming and festival lineups, and a strong draw for corporate events, casinos and private shows.
