Hailing from Richmond, London, Route 94 is the alias of electronic producer and DJ Rowan Jones. Rising to prominence with his U.K. chart-topping track "My Love" in March 2014, Jones began his musical career in 2010 as a dubstep producer who worked under the name Dream. After uploading three of his tracks to UKF Dubstep, the songs were discovered by Chase & Status and, later, Skrillex, who subsequently released Jones' EP This Isn't House on his own OWSLA label. In 2012, he created the guise Route 94 and ended up getting his new demos and dubplates played on Skream and Benga's Radio 1 show. He deleted all social media profiles and online references to Dream, leading many dance music publications to attempt to uncover who was behind Route 94 (it was later revealed that it was Jones behind both acts). In 2013, he remixed the likes of Storm Queen, Katy B, and Skream. He released his debut EP, Fly 4 Life, under Route 94 in June 2013, and later signed with Rinse FM. His breakthrough single, "My Love," featuring Jess Glynne, started to pick up airplay in September 2013, and in early 2014 garnered enough momentum and attention that it reached number one in March 2014. Jones also produced the track "Everything" for Katy B's sophomore album, Little Red, and released the Misunderstood EP on Leftroom Records. After devoting much of his time to club and festival gigs, he resumed his release schedule in 2016 with the Fabric-released EP A Brand New Day. This was followed in 2017 by Mind, Body & Soul (Crosstown Rebels) and a remix of Sooney's "Back to the Music" on Hot Creations.
