Samia is an American indie rock and indie pop singer-songwriter signed to Grand Jury Music, known for confessional, unflinching lyricism that has made her one of the most acclaimed songwriters of her generation. Her 2020 debut album The Baby introduced a raw, unpolished sound built around vulnerability, and her 2023 follow-up Honey, recorded with producer Rostam Batmanglij, deepened her reputation for turning discomfort into melody. Her third studio album Bloodless arrived in April 2025 and was widely called her best work yet, earning a perfect score from NME and top marks from DIY and Paste, whose critics praised her as a poet working at the height of her craft.
She came up around the entertainment business before she ever chose it for herself. Born in Los Angeles to actress Kathy Najimy and actor and musician Dan Finnerty, Samia was writing songs and playing open mikes by her mid teens, and by 19 she had appeared in the off-Broadway premiere of The Wolves and guest starred on Fox's Gotham. She kept building her music in parallel, releasing early singles and the 2019 EP Ode to Artifice while touring with Cold War Kids and playing SXSW and Firefly, before The Baby made her a name in her own right the following year.
Bloodless was recorded with Honey collaborator Caleb Wright and Hippo Campus songwriter Jake Luppen at Betty's, the same Durham, North Carolina studio used by frequent touring partners Sylvan Esso, and its songs have shared stages with tourmates Lucy Dacus and Courtney Barnett. In 2026 Samia is out on the road supporting Role Model, playing rooms like Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Radio City Music Hall along with festival stops including Hinterland.
