Sammy Hagar is a hard rock singer who has fronted Montrose, Van Halen, Chickenfoot, and Sammy Hagar and the Wabos, and he has kept a solo catalog running the whole time. Sammy Hagar & Friends arrived in 2013 and Ten 13 followed in 2019, with Encore, Thank You, Goodnight. landing in 2025. He records for Big Machine Rock, and the work has ranged across hard rock, heavy metal, and glam metal without leaving rock behind.
He came up a long way from a stage. Born in Salinas and raised in Fontana, California, Hagar is the son of a steel worker and onetime professional boxer, and he first gained prominence as the lead vocalist of Montrose.
Fronting Van Halen put him in front of arenas and stadiums worldwide, and his touring has reached rooms like the O2 Arena. He has performed at major rock festivals with Montrose, Van Halen, Chickenfoot, and The Circle. He is a Grammy Award winner and an American Music Award recipient, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen. That combination of catalog and stage experience makes him a strong headline booking for casinos, fair and festival lineups, corporate events, and private shows.
