Satin Jackets is the disco project of German producer Tim Bernhardt, who builds his tracks out of deep house and Chicago house parts and then softens the edges until they glow. The albums show a producer settling into that idea rather than chasing it: Panorama Pacifico in 2016, Diamonds Are Forever in 2018, and Reunion in 2022, three markers inside a catalog that now runs to more than two dozen releases. He records for Golden Hour Recordings.
Bernhardt came to disco the long way around. He spent years making house music under other aliases before starting Satin Jackets in 2012, and the new name was the excuse to finally follow the music he actually loved. The project began in München and has stayed a one-man operation, which is part of why it sounds so consistent from record to record.
Bernhardt has carried the project well past the studio, touring the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe under the Satin Jackets name since 2012. That is a decade-plus of playing to rooms on four different circuits, and it shows in how the sets are paced. He is a strong fit for college programming, corporate events, festival and casino lineups, and private engagements looking for a dance floor that stays warm rather than loud.
