Smoakland is a West Coast bass music duo built for the low end. Anthony Battaglia and Harrison Hays work in dubstep and riddim, the kind of bass-forward sound that earns a slot at a room like Red Rocks Amphitheatre. They put out Telegraph in 2020 and have kept the releases coming through Stay In Your Lane… in 2023 and Always Wanna Talk in 2024, all under Left Coast Records.
They came up as a pair of student athletes. Battaglia and Hays met at Boise State University, reunited back home in the Bay Area, and turned that partnership into Smoakland in 2018, chasing dubstep together rather than apart.
The project lives on the strength of those two, and the live history backs it: from the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium to the Red Rocks Amphitheatre stage, Smoakland is a bass act made for festival lineups, college dates, casino floors, and private events.
