SoFaygo's flexibility as a rapper/singer -- he can swiftly change from sad and reflective to spiteful and combative -- reflects an assortment of influences that include Drake and Chief Keef. Within a year of making his commercial debut and breaking through with the 2019 track "Knock Knock," SoFaygo joined the roster of Travis Scott's Cactus Jack label. His discography has expanded since then with singles, EPs, and mixtapes issued in anticipation of his first proper album.
Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, but a native of Cobb County, Georgia, Andre Burt, Jr. started recording music for fun as a youngster, and by his early teens was taking it more seriously, teaching himself how to use a digital audio workstation. Known first as Trvllinese, Burt eventually took the name $oFaygo, and established his reputation on SoundCloud with stray tracks, along with assorted projects designated as EPs and mixtapes. Among his releases in 2019 was the Lil Tecca-produced single "Knock Knock," a track that went viral and appeared on Angelic 7, his first mixtape of 2020. Tecca produced that tape in its entirety. The following year, word spread of SoFaygo's deal with Cactus Jack. The label recirculated much of SoFaygo's back catalog to streaming services, and the rapper worked toward the release of his first proper album with singles such as "Hobby" and "Let's Lose Our Minds." The EP B4PINK appeared in 2022.
