Strawberry Guy is the solo project of Alexander Morgan Stephens, a songwriter working in bedroom pop, dream pop and psychedelic pop. He opened the catalog with F Song in 2018 and expanded on it with the album Sun Outside My Window in 2021. In between came Mrs Magic, the 2019 track that went viral on TikTok and carried his songs to millions of views, and in 2023 he returned to it with a strings version.
He came to it sideways. Stephens is from Wales, and before Strawberry Guy existed he played keyboards for the indie bands The Orielles and Trudy and The Romance. He began recording alone in his Liverpool bedroom in 2018, and the project has kept that scale ever since: one writer, one set of rooms, songs built by hand.
NME's Radar column has covered his work, and he has taken the material on the road to rooms like The Glass House, Little Saint and Harlow's. That combination of a song audiences already know and a live show built for close listening makes him a natural fit for college events, festival and club bookings, and private engagements.
