Sub Focus is one of the producers who carried drum and bass into the UK mainstream, pairing heavy bass with big, festival-sized hooks. His hits include "Endorphins" with Alex Clare and "Turn Back Time," both UK Top 10 singles, along with "Tidal Wave" and "Turn It Around," and he produced Example's No. 3 hit "Kickstarts." His 2023 album Evolve won Best Album at the Drum and Bass Arena Awards, and he followed it with Contact in November 2025, featuring Katy B, Fireboy DML and IRAH.
He came to dance music from rock bands. Nick Douwma grew up in Guildford, Surrey, playing guitar before turning to electronic production as a teenager, and a demo passed to Andy C led to a deal with RAM Records, where he scored a run of UK Dance Chart No. 1s before his 2009 debut album.
Sub Focus built his reputation on the live stage, headlining the BBC Radio 1 Dance stage at Reading and Leeds, playing Glastonbury and teaming with Wilkinson on the 2020 collaborative album Portals. His high-energy shows make him a strong fit for festival lineups, college events, casinos, corporate events and private shows.
