Sultan + Shepard is the Montréal duo of Ned Shepard and Ossama Al Sarraf, who records as Sultan, working in progressive and melodic house. Their albums trace a steady line rather than a scattershot single run: Echoes of Life: Day in 2019, Something, Everything in 2021, and Forever, Now in 2023, with a remix edition of that last record following the same year. They release through This Never Happened, and the catalog behind those albums runs to dozens of titles.
The partnership goes back further than the records do. Shepard and Al Sarraf met at McGill University in Montréal in the 1990s, then waited until the following decade to start producing together. That long runway shows in how they work now, as album artists in a format built around the single.
The credentials have followed. The duo holds a Grammy nomination and two Juno Award nominations, and they have played Tomorrowland, Ultra, and EDC alongside club and theater dates including The Mission Ballroom, Lakefront Green, and SILO.
