Surfaces is a pop duo out of College Station, Texas, folding surf, jazz, soul, and hip hop into an easygoing sound. Their single "Sunday Best" broke through in a real way: it went double platinum, climbed to #19 on the Billboard Hot 100, and reached #9 at Top 40 Pop radio. The albums followed steadily, from Where the Light Is in 2019 through Horizons in 2020 to Hidden Youth in 2022 on Caroline Records.
The group came together in 2017 in an unlikely way. Colin Padalecki had been making and posting his own tracks online while attending Texas A&M, which caught the ear of singer-producer Forrest Frank. Frank invited him to record on his houseboat, and the partnership stuck.
Frank and Padalecki have built Surfaces as a two-man operation, writing and producing the whole catalog themselves. That warm, homemade sound travels well, making the duo a natural fit for festival and fair lineups, college events, corporate dates, and private engagements.
