The Working Title emerged from Charleston, South Carolina, with a genre-blending sound that fused alternative rock, indie pop, and emotionally driven songwriting. Led by frontman Joel Hamilton, the band gained early acclaim with their EP Everyone Here Is Wrong, earning a 5-star review from Alternative Press and being named “A Band to Watch.” Their major-label debut About Face (2006) showcased standout tracks like “The Mary Getaway,” “Beloved,” and “Something She Said,” combining introspective lyrics with soaring melodies and guitar-driven arrangements. Known for their dynamic live performances, The Working Title toured extensively across the U.S., sharing stages with Circa Survive, Mae, Mutemath, Copeland, Counting Crows, and the Goo Goo Dolls. Their “Music Is Much Too Loud Tour” and appearances at venues like Knitting Factory and Charleston Music Hall showcased their ability to connect with audiences through raw emotion and commanding stage presence. Their music was also featured on MTV’s Laguna Beach and in the film American Wedding, expanding their reach beyond the indie circuit.
Though the band disbanded in 2009, Joel Hamilton has continued to release music under various projects including Mechanical River and BABYLiPS, keeping the spirit of The Working Title alive.
