Topic is the German producer and DJ Tobias Topic, also known as Topic42, working in dance, house, and electronic music. He broke through globally with "Breaking Me" in 2020, the same year he reworked "Why Do You Lie to Me" as the Keanu Silva remix, and he carried that momentum into "Chain My Heart" in 2021 and "Kernkraft 400 (A Better Day)" in 2022. His sound is a melancholic take on dance music that found an audience well beyond Germany.
He came up outside the industry. Born in a small town near Düsseldorf and raised in Solingen, he started making music as a hobby and left his job at 21 to produce and DJ full-time. That gamble paid off: "Breaking Me" earned gold in Germany, the UK, Australia, Belgium, France, Italy, and New Zealand, and platinum in Canada and Portugal, while "Home" went platinum in Germany and Australia.
Signed to UMG, Topic holds diamond certifications across 28 countries and picked up awards in 2020 and 2021 tied to that international run. He has played major festivals including Tomorrowland, making him a strong fit for festival lineups, club dates, corporate events, casinos, and private engagements.
