Blending synth pop, downtempo, and hip-hop influences into wistful but not too nostalgic songs, Vallis Alps is the project of vocalist Parissa Tosif and producer David Ansari. Though the pair originally lived thousands of miles apart -- Tosif was from Canberra, Australia and Ansari from Seattle in the U.S. -- they met in Israel during their gap year in 2010. After Ansari heard Tosif sing at a friend's house, they struck up a friendship and collaborated on music over the Internet and in person for several years. Vallis Alps released their self-titled debut EP in January 2015, and the single "Young" became a hit, ultimately placing at number 27 on that year's Triple J Hottest 100. Late that year, the duo moved to Sydney, and earned a J Award nomination for Unearthed Artist of the Year. A pair of singles, 2016's "Fading" and 2017's "East," heralded the release of Vallis Alps' sophomore EP, Fable, in March 2017.
