Rayvon Owen smoothly and seemingly effortlessly brings authenticity and emotion to his lyrical narrative and melodies. Each song in his catalogue is a glimpse into who Owen is as a person, and a testament to the joy that can only come from being yourself. His glowing collection of pop gems—layered with textures of soul, R&B, and incandescent synth—have earned attention from the likes of People Magazine, Huffington Post, USA Today, and Billboard.
The young pop and R&B star broke onto the scene during the 14th season of American Idol, placing fourth in the singing competition. Since then, his career has been on an upward trajectory. Some recent singles, including the evocative "Faraway Lover" and the dynamic collaboration "LaLocura" with Shaka Y Dres (which earned a Best Latin Summer Collaboration 2020 nomination on Billboard), showcase his artistic versatility and willingness to traverse various musical genres. In 2020, he released two solo EPs: a holiday record for Victoria's Secret PINK brand called PINK:
Unwrapped and Las Virginia, which reflected Owen’s journey of growth, as well as the combination of where he came from with who he is now. “It's all about my internal yin and yang, growing up in the east but now living in the west, and the battle of who I was taught to be versus who I am becoming.” His third and most-recent studio body of work, titled REAL, released July 21, 2023, just after a full and celebratory Pride Month. "This new album will celebrate queer freedom and expression, honoring those in the LGBTQIA+ community who came before us and fought for equal rights," Owen says. "I want to share more personal stories of queer romance, sex, and finding authenticity in your own skin." The lead single, “What Hurts More Than Loving,” is Owen's most personal, soul-baring song yet.
In addition to performing with the Idols Live Tour and releasing several successful singles, Owen also hosted The Sims Spark'd on TBS, which won a Webby Award in 2021. He was featured as Elvis Duran's "Artist of the Month" in 2018 and performed his song "Gold" on The Today Show. He has been honored to sing the National Anthem at several NFL, NBA and WNBA games, and even performed the halftime show for the Phoenix Suns and the Brittney Griner Welcome Home Game.
He has also performed at numerous Pride Festivals all over the country, and this year had the tremendous privilege of playing the mainstage at the world-renowned West Hollywood Pride. Owen plans to do more public appearances and television in 2023, including starring in an untitled reality pilot following his life as an artist in Hollywood.
Whether onstage, in the studio, or deep into the songwriting process, Rayvon Owen strives to entertain his listeners, while also creating an immersive and inspirational experience. “I love singing about love, life experiences, and my journey growing up to be the person I am today.”
