A moody and introspective singer, songwriter, and rapper, Clever has a cross-pollinated sound steeped in emo, R&B, hip-hop, and electronic traditions. He first garnered attention for his collaborations with Juice WRLD, Justin Bieber, and Post Malone before releasing his full-length debut, 2021's Crazy. Born in 1985 in Gadsden, Alabama, Clever is the stage name of Joshua Tyler Huie. As a teenager, he wrote poetry and began freestyle rapping. He also started posting his work online and eventually caught the ear of other performers. In 2014, he was featured on Snoop Dogg and the Eastsidaz's song "Payday." Clever gained wider attention after he collaborated with Juice WRLD on the 2019 track "Ring Ring." That year, he also released his own EP Who Is Clever? Another breakthrough came in 2020 when he was featured on Justin Bieber's song "Forever" with Post Malone. Over the next year, he kept busy releasing his own songs, including "Loyalty," "Emotions in Motion," and "Rolls Royce Umbrella'' featuring Chris Brown. All of this led up to the arrival of Clever's debut full-length album, Crazy, in 2021.
