Elsa y Elmar is the recording project of Elsa Carvajal, who writes and performs across latin pop, latin folk, and latin alternative. She introduced the project with the 2013 EP Sentirnos bien and has built out from there, from the 2015 album Rey through Eres diamante in 2019 and PALACIO in 2024. She records with ELMAR PRESENTA, S.A. DE C.V./Sony Music México.
Her path ran through a conservatory. Carvajal was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia, and studied at Berklee College of Music before taking on the Elsa y Elmar name, which accounts for how much arranging detail sits underneath songs that stay plainspoken.
The Latin Grammy Awards nominated her for Best New Artist in 2019. On stage she has played rooms at both ends of the scale, from David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center and Coca-Cola Music Hall to the open-air Explanada de la Alhóndiga de Granaditas. She is a strong fit for college programming, festival and fair lineups, corporate events, performing arts center dates, and private engagements.
