Jim Messina is an American singer-songwriter and musician who was born on December 5, 1947, in Maywood, California, USA.
Jim Messina is best known as a member of the folk rock duo Loggins and Messina, which he co-founded with Kenny Loggins in the early 1970s. The duo released several successful albums throughout the decade, including "Sittin' In," "Loggins and Messina," and "Full Sail."
Prior to forming Loggins and Messina, Jim Messina was a member of the bands Buffalo Springfield and Poco, and he also produced albums for artists such as Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles.
In addition to his work in music, Jim Messina is also a dedicated environmental activist and has worked to promote sustainability and conservation through his music and other endeavors. He is a founding member of the group Musicians United for Safe Energy, which organized the No Nukes concerts and album in the late 1970s.
