Julian Casablancas is the lead singer and primary songwriter of The Strokes, the New York band whose 2001 debut, Is This It, helped spark a garage rock revival and is still hailed as one of the defining albums of its era. The Strokes won their first Grammy, for Best Rock Album, with 2020's The New Abnormal and returned in 2026 with their seventh album, Reality Awaits, and a Coachella appearance. He also shares in a Grammy for Album of the Year as a featured artist on Daft Punk's Random Access Memories, where he wrote and sang "Instant Crush."
He is a lifelong New Yorker. Born in Manhattan, the son of Elite Model Management founder John Casablancas, he formed The Strokes in 1998 and later launched his own label, Cult Records, which has released music by The Strokes, Karen O and The Growlers along with his 2009 solo album, Phrazes for the Young.
Beyond The Strokes, Casablancas fronts the experimental rock band The Voidz, whose albums include Tyranny, Virtue and 2024's Like All Before You. With two bands and decades of indie rock credibility, he is a strong fit for festival lineups, college events, corporate events, casinos and private shows.
