Kate Bollinger is a folk and indie pop singer-songwriter with a jazz-influenced touch. She released the EP I Don't Wanna Lose in 2019 and A word becomes a sound the following year, and her album Songs From a Thousand Frames of Mind arrived in 2024. She records for Ghostly International.
Her patience is the point. Bollinger was born in Virginia and grew up in Charlottesville surrounded by music and art, writing songs as a child and then spending years playing and recording alone before she was ready to share any of it. The band she eventually pulled together to record I Don't Wanna Lose was the first time that private work met other players. She later moved to Los Angeles.
She performs as a solo singer-songwriter, and her stages have ranged from the Blue Note to Oxford Art Factory and The Triffid. She also headlined Spring Fling, the event staged by WRBB 104.9 FM at Northeastern University's AfterHours venue, which speaks to how well the material travels in a college room.
