Kiesza is a Canadian singer and songwriter who works across dance-pop, deep house and contemporary R&B. She broke through in 2014 with "Hideaway," the single that anchored her album "Sound of a Woman" that same year, and returned in 2020 with "Crave," a record that showed the same appetite for up-tempo pop built on real songwriting. She records with the label ZST.
Her route to a dance floor was not the obvious one. Kiesza was born in Calgary and picked up the guitar while serving in the Royal Canadian Navy, then studied at Berklee College of Music on a scholarship. She started out singing folk before turning toward faster, club-facing material, and that background still shows in how her songs are put together.
In 2014 she performed "Hideaway" at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Glasgow on a bill with Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Maroon 5, and the following year she won the Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. On the road she has played rooms including Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brighton Music Hall and The Foundry in Philadelphia, which makes her a strong fit for college programming, festival and fair lineups, corporate events and private engagements looking for a vocalist who can carry a dance set live.
