Lakeyah is a rapper who moves between hip-hop and R&B without treating either as a detour. She arrived with *In Due Time* in 2021 and then spent 2022 doubling down, releasing both halves of *No Pressure* inside a single year, a pace that says more about her work ethic than any adjective could. *Keymix III* followed in 2024, and the catalog behind it now runs to dozens of titles.
She started young. Lakeyah Danaee Robinson was born in Milwaukee in February 2001 and was recording by age 15, which meant the move to Atlanta came before most artists have finished figuring out what they sound like. Quality Control Music signed her there in 2020, when she was nineteen. She records under Human Re Sources and performs mononymously, no band, no co-signers onstage.
The XXL Freshman Class named her in 2021, the first artist from Milwaukee to make that list, and she has taken the material to stages like Kulture since. Working solo keeps her flexible: a rap set built for college programming and festival and fair lineups, and one that scales down for corporate dates, casino rooms, and private events.
