Lianne La Havas is a London singer and guitarist who writes at the meeting point of soul, folk, jazz and r&b. Her debut, Is Your Love Big Enough?, arrived in 2012 and set the pattern: a voice and an electric guitar carrying the song with very little between them. A Warner Bros. Records artist, she went deeper on Blood in 2015 and then pared everything back to the essentials on the self-titled Lianne La Havas in 2020, an album that reads as a summary of everything the first two were reaching for.
The blend was there before the records were. She was born Lianne Charlotte Barnes in London on 23 August 1989, the daughter of a Greek father and a Jamaican mother, and the two sides of that inheritance sit inside the phrasing rather than being announced by it.
