LP has spent her career on both sides of the credits. Recording as a solo artist under that two-letter name, the singer and songwriter born Laura Pergolizzi has worked a line between indie rock and pop rock, from Forever For Now in 2014 to Heart to Mouth in 2018, with Warner Bros. Records behind the run. The pivot arrived in between: Lost on You, released in 2016, carried a title single that reached No. 1 in more than 10 European countries.
She came up on Long Island. Born in Huntington to Italian and Irish family origins, she built the songwriting half of her working life first, writing for Rihanna, Cher, the Backstreet Boys and Christina Aguilera. That craft shows up in her own records, where the writing is built to be sung by one voice in a room rather than arranged around it.
