Royel Otis are the Sydney duo of Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic, whose jangly, hook-filled indie pop has made them one of Australia's fastest-rising exports. Their debut album, PRATTS & PAIN, entered the ARIA Albums Chart at No. 1 in 2024 and won them four ARIA Awards, and their viral Like a Version cover of "Murder on the Dancefloor" topped U.S. Alternative radio and landed at No. 2 in triple j's Hottest 100. Their take on The Cranberries' "Linger" reached the Billboard Hot 100, and their second album, hickey, followed in 2025.
It took off with one song. After forming in Sydney in 2019, the pair broke through with "Oysters in My Pocket" from their 2022 EP Bar n Grill, which earned them a spot in Spotify's RADAR program and led to a deal with Capitol Records.
Royel Otis now headline major venues on both sides of the Pacific, including the Greek Theatre, the Santa Barbara Bowl and Chicago's Salt Shed. Their sing-along sets make them a strong fit for festival and fair lineups, college events, corporate events and private shows.
