Lynyrd Skynyrd is a Southern rock band out of Jacksonville, Florida, with a sound rooted in hard rock, blues rock, and boogie rock. Over a catalog that runs deep, the band's later chapters include God & Guns in 2009, Last of a Dyin' Breed in 2012, and the 2015 collection One More for the Fans. They recorded for Atlantic Records and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
It started in the summer of 1964. Teenagers Ronnie Van Zant, Bob Burns, and Gary Rossington met while playing on rival baseball teams in Jacksonville, and an impromptu jam session in Burns' parents' carport led to the band that became Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Alongside Van Zant and Rossington, the lineup has carried Allen Collins, Billy Powell, and Johnny Van Zant. The band has filled amphitheaters and arenas including PNC Bank Arts Center, Jiffy Lube Live, and PNC Music Pavilion, making them a proven draw for festival and fair lineups, casino stages, corporate events, and private engagements.
