MARIS is the solo project of American singer-songwriter Maris Maddux-Ward, also known as Maris Ward, working across pop, rock, and indie pop. Her catalog runs from Of Love & Rain in 2015 through Honey in 2017 to Gravity in 2023, which she revisited as Gravity (Stripped) in 2025.
She started young. As a high school student in Missoula, Montana, Maris self-recorded a 12-track album called Of the Sea, burned and packaged the CDs herself, and sold them through the local record store Rockin Rudy's, where the album became one of the shop's best sellers.
Recording for Black House, Maris brought her songs to Boston Calling in 2023 and has played rooms like the Bluebird, A&R Music Bar, and The Whirling Tiger. That makes her a grounded fit for college events, festival and fair lineups, corporate dates, and private shows.
