Money Man is a solo rapper working in Southern hip-hop and trap. The Black Circle series in 2016 gave his catalog both its name and its first real traction, and he followed it with Money Over Everything in 2017. His releases come through Black Circle and Empire.
He came up between two cities. Born Tysen Jay Bolding in New York City and raised in the Atlanta area, he started rapping young, and the run of mixtapes he put out in 2016 is what turned a local habit into a career.
Those tapes carried guest verses from Gucci Mane, Young Thug, and Akon, and the attention they drew led to a deal with Cash Money Records. He is also the first American rapper publicly reported to have taken an advance for his music paid in Bitcoin, a deal that says as much about how he runs his business as his catalog does about how he raps. He works well as a live booking for college programming, festival and fair lineups, casino dates, and private events.
