O.A.R. has been working the same seam of alternative and roots rock since 1996, with a pop-rock lean that pushes their songs toward singalongs. The catalog behind them is long, and the two studio records that frame their recent stretch, The Rockville LP (2014) and The Mighty (2019), show a band still writing for the size of room it already knows how to fill. They record with Black Rock Recorded Music.
They started in Rockville, and they have never stopped saying so. The 2014 album took the town's name for its title. The live albums say the rest: Live from Madison Square Garden (2007) and Live on Red Rocks (2012) planted them on two of the stages bands use to measure a career.
Marc Roberge, Chris Culos, Benj Gershman, and Richard On have carried that run, and the song "Lay Down" brought them an MTV Woodie Award for Streaming Video in 2006. The result is a durable live act for college campuses, fair and festival lineups, corporate dates, casinos, and private events.
