Omar Apollo is a Mexican-American singer-songwriter who writes in alternative R&B, bedroom pop, and pop. The 2018 EP Stereo set the terms, and the albums that followed widened them: Ivory in 2022 and God Said No in 2024, released under WMG. His single Evergreen (You Didn't Deserve Me At All) has been certified platinum by the RIAA.
He came to it early and without much apparatus. Raised in Indiana, in Hobart, he started playing guitar at 11. His first real break came when a friend paid him $30 to upload his music to streaming services, and the single Ugotme pulled in millions of streams from there.
Recording as Omar Apolonio Velasco under his stage name, Apollo has since worked with C. Tangana on Te Olvidaste, which drew two Latin Grammy nominations, for Record of the Year and Best Alternative Song. He was nominated for Best New Artist at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in 2023 and received Variety's Future Icon award. He has performed with and for the Los Angeles Philharmonic at LA Phil-presented events, played First Avenue in Minneapolis, and toured the U.S., Mexico, Europe, Asia, and Australia. That range makes him a strong fit for festival and fair lineups, college programming, corporate events, and private engagements.
