Paul Kalkbrenner is a German electronic music producer, DJ and musician whose catalog runs from minimal techno and ambient techno into electronica and downbeat. Across more than forty releases, three albums mark the arc: "Sky & Sand" in 2009, "Guten Tag" in 2012 and "7" in 2015. His records have come out through labels including BPitch Control, Paul Kalkbrenner Musik and Sony Music.
He was born in Leipzig on 11 June 1977 and built his reputation in Berlin, coming to prominence in that city's techno scene. Wider recognition arrived by way of the film Berlin Calling, in which he both starred and handled the soundtrack work, carrying his name well past the club circuit that made him.
Kalkbrenner works alone, producing and performing as a solo act, and he has taken that show to stages as varied as Luxexpo The Box, Filmnächte am Elbufer and the Hippodrome de Vincennes. It is a live set built for scale, which makes him a strong fit for festival lineups, club and casino dates, corporate events and private engagements.
