Pia Mia is a pop singer whose records sit where electropop, R&B and dance-pop meet, with hip hop cadence pulling at the edges. She had an audience before she had a label. Pia Mia Perez came out of Guam and started by posting videos of herself singing to YouTube, and that self-made following is what put a recording contract with Interscope Records in front of her in 2013.
The reach ran past her own releases: will.i.am brought her in on "Boys & Girls," a single that landed inside the UK top 40. She works solo out front, and the live version of the catalog has played rooms as far afield as Oasis Brisbane and The Albion Rooftop.
