Redlight is the working name of Hugh James Pescod, a solo British producer and DJ whose catalog sits where house meets two-step garage, dubstep, minimal techno and bass music. X Colour landed in 2015, I'll Be Waiting followed in 2017, and ACTIVE arrived in 2018, three records that track a producer widening his palette rather than settling into one lane. He releases through Lobster Boy.
He came up in Bristol. Raised in the city and known then as DJ Clipz, Pescod built his ear as a DJ and producer in the 1990s free-party scene, and the Redlight project grew out of that grounding in sound systems and dancefloors rather than out of a studio concept.
Pescod runs the project alone, handling the production and the decks under both the Redlight and Clipz names. The work has carried him from those early Bristol nights to EDC Mexico and to rooms like Document, a range that suits both a festival main stage and a late club set. That makes Redlight a practical booking for festival lineups, college events, corporate parties and private shows where a dance floor is the point.
