REI AMI is a genre-restless artist who moves between R&B, hip-hop, and alt-pop without settling in any one lane. She broke through with a run of early singles before FOIL in 2021 gave her a fuller statement, and by 2023's shhh she had sharpened the blend of sung hooks and rap cadence that defines her sound.
She came to music from a long way off. Born in Seoul and moved to Maryland with her family at age six, she carries that in-between vantage into work that refuses to sit still.
