Steve Winwood has spent since the mid-1960s writing and performing songs that pull blues, folk, rock, pop and jazz into one voice, first with the Spencer Davis Group, then with Traffic and Blind Faith, and afterward under his own name. His solo records have come out through Island Records and F.S. Music Ltd., from About Time in 2003 to Nine Lives in 2008, with the concert set Winwood: Greatest Hits Live following in 2017.
He came up in Handsworth, and the breadth he built early has never narrowed. Blue-eyed soul, blues rock, progressive rock and jazz all sit inside the same body of work, which is why his catalog resists a single genre label.
Beyond the bands that made his name, Winwood has played with Ginger Baker's Air Force, Stomu Yamashta's Go and The Louisiana Gator Boys, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic in 2004. On stage he works rooms built for a headliner, including The Event Center at Turning Stone Resort Casino, Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena and the Mayo Performing Arts Center, which makes him a strong fit for casino showrooms, performing arts centers, festival and fair lineups, corporate events and private engagements.
