Superheaven work in alternative rock with grunge and post-hardcore pulling at the edges. Their debut, Jar, came out on SideOneDummy Records and landed on three national charts at once, reaching number 184 on the Billboard 200, number 33 on Independent Albums and number 50 on Top Rock Albums. Ours Is Chrome followed two years later, and after a long stretch away the band returned with a self-titled album.
They started out as somebody else. The four-piece came together in Bucks County under the name Daylight, and had already finished their first album before deciding the name no longer fit, so Jar went back out into the world with Superheaven on the sleeve. The road since has not been a straight line either. The lineup went quiet for a while, surfaced briefly, then reassembled in full, and the band that plays now is one that chose to be a band again.
Taylor Madison and Jake Clarke split lead vocals and guitar, a two-singer arrangement that gives the songs their push and pull, with Joe Kane on bass and Zack Robbins on drums and backing vocals. They have taken it into rooms like Engine Rooms and the Foundry at Sheffield Student Union, the kind of stages where a loud guitar band either earns the room or does not. That makes them a strong get for college events, festival and fair lineups, casino stages and private shows.
