Taking Back Sunday is a New York band whose work sits where alternative rock, emo, pop-punk, and post-hardcore overlap. Recording for Warner Bros. Records, the group has kept a long release schedule going rather than trading on a single era, moving from New Again in 2009 through the self-titled Taking Back Sunday in 2011 and on to 152 in 2023, with more than three dozen releases logged across the catalog.
They have been at it since 1999. That year, guitarist Eddie Reyes and guitarist and co-singer John Nolan put together a new lineup after an earlier incarnation of the band dissolved, bringing in frontman Adam Lazzara and drummer Mark O'Connell along with a bassist to round out the group. More than two decades of touring have followed from that reset.
The band has been inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, and their set at the Bamboozle festival was documented on the live release Live from Bamboozle '09. Recent stages include The Sylvee, Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, and Shoreline Village, a spread that tracks how the band works now: a durable live act for festival and fair lineups, college calendars, casino showrooms, and private events.
