The Driver Era is a Los Angeles alternative rock and pop duo built around brothers Ross and Rocky Lynch, who spun the project off from their former band R5 in 2018 and have self produced every release since. Their 2019 debut X introduced a breezy, guitar driven sound that built on 2021's Girlfriend and 2022's Summer Mixtape, the latter marked by the singles "Malibu" and "Fantasy." Their fourth studio album, Obsession, arrived behind the singles "You Keep Me Up at Night" and "Same Old Story" and pushed the duo further into anthemic, radio ready alt pop territory. Both brothers write, produce, and play every instrument on their records, a rare full ownership credential that has earned them comparisons to acts like The 1975 and COIN for their DIY approach to guitar pop.
They came up through the family band. Ross and Rocky cut their teeth as members of R5 alongside their siblings before striking out as a duo, teaching themselves production and instrumentation along the way rather than relying on outside songwriters or hired musicians.
