The Griswolds burst out of Sydney’s indie rock scene in 2012 with a genre-blending sound they called “tequila-inspired party pop.” Their debut EP Heart of a Lion and full-length album Be Impressive delivered infectious tracks like “Beware the Dog,” “Mississippi,” and “Out of My Head,” combining shimmering synths, danceable rhythms, and vibrant pop hooks. With influences ranging from Vampire Weekend to MGMT, The Griswolds carved a distinct identity in the alternative dance and indie pop landscape.
Known for their anthemic and raucous live performances, The Griswolds have played sold out shows across North America, Europe, and Australia. Their high-energy sets have lit up venues like The Troubadour, Bowery Ballroom, and Rams Head Live, and they’ve earned festival slots at Big Day Out, Parklife, and Homebake. Critics consistently praise their commanding stage presence and crowd-igniting charisma, with shows described as eclectic, emotional, and unforgettable.
Although the band faced controversy in 2020, lead singer Chris Whitehall has since returned with solo acoustic performances and new material. The Griswolds released the single “Nice To Meet Ya!” in 2019 and hinted at a third album in development. With a loyal fanbase and a legacy of genre-defining indie pop, The Griswolds remain a standout name in the global alternative scene.
