Kevin Kaarl has been releasing music under his own name since 2018, working a strain of folk that pulls in indie folk and dream pop. His debut album, Hasta el Fin del Mundo, arrived in 2019 and carried "Vámonos a Marte," the song that widened his audience well past his home state. San Lucas followed the same year. By the time Paris Texas landed in 2023 he had built a catalog of more than thirty releases and was recording for Meteor Records.
He comes from Meoqui, in Chihuahua, Mexico, and was born Kevin Eduardo Hernández Carlos. The shortened stage name is the only thing about the project that is not his own: he writes and performs as a solo artist, and the songs have stayed close to that scale even as the rooms have grown.
Those rooms now include the Auditorio Nacional, Foro GNP, and Auditorio Telmex. A solo folk act with a Latin rock and indie pop reach and a decade's worth of material to draw from, Kaarl is a natural fit for college campuses, festival and fair lineups, performing arts centers, and private events.
