Masicka, born Javaun Fearon, is a Jamaican artist working in modern dancehall, folding trap production into the genre's sound. He first made a name in 2009 after winning a Hype TV deejay competition, broke through regionally with a hit single in 2011, and delivered his debut studio album 438 in 2021 on Def Jam. His 2023 album Generation of Kings followed as he kept recording and releasing music.
He came up through steady work. Raised in Independence City, Portmore, he attended Calabar High School in Kingston and began releasing solo recordings at age eighteen, building his craft through consistent output and collaborations in Jamaica's dancehall scene.
Along the way Masicka founded the Genahsyde imprint, which evolved into 1Syde Records, before signing to Def Jam. He won Best Upcoming Artist at Jamaica's Music Industry Achievers Awards in 2013 and earned a nomination for Best Male Artiste at the 2020 International Reggae & World Music Awards. He has performed at venues including Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater, making him a strong fit for festival and fair lineups, casino dates, corporate events, and private shows.
