Matt Maltese builds pop songs with more furniture than most. He came by that in-between quality honestly. Born in October 1995 and raised in Reading, England to Canadian parents, Maltese has kept the whole operation in one pair of hands. There is no band behind the name: Matthew Jonathan Gordon Maltese writes it, sings it, and releases it under the Tonight Matthew banner, and the catalogue has piled up fast in the years since that first single.
The live schedule has widened along with it. He played Shaky Knees in Atlanta, Georgia in 2023, and he works smaller rooms like La Nau and Sala Villanos just as readily, which is a useful trait in a songwriter whose material holds up at either scale.
